The St. Louis-based Incarnate Word Foundation, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary during 20172018, offered a special event November 16 at the Missouri History Museum as part of its anniversary observances. The viewing was a step toward reconnecting with the larger history of St. Louis race relations and reconsidering our perspective on them with the goal of coming to a deeper reconciliation.

Gwen Moore, curator of the exhibit “#1 in Civil Rights: The African American Freedom Struggle in St. Louis” currently showing at the Museum, conducted a tour of the exhibit that features our Sr. Mary Antona Ebo, FSM, as one of the distinguished leaders in the St. Louis African American community.

The theme of the Incarnate Word Foundation’s 20th anniversary celebration is “RECON”—RECONnect, RECONsider, RECONcile, with events planned to focus on opportunities to further those goals.

The Incarnate Word Foundation and the Franciscan Sisters of Mary have been collaborators on projects for many years.
